I have two sons, ages seven and four. Personally, a heavily themed kid’s room is not my cup of tea but I do like to keep it playful since they are young. My son has a Waikiki Beach painting hanging in his room (the place where my husband and I got married), so I decided to expand on that when I did a makeover on his IKEA bookcase. A little imagination and spray paint went a long way in terms of décor while still keeping this space very functional.
I also wanted to do something fun for my other son, so I created this reading nook complete with wall decals and cheeky word art. I love the look of hanging swings, but with my boys’ destructive tendencies I was reluctant to install one. This rattan caged chair ended up being the perfect compromise!
