There is nothing more classic and nostalgic than buttermilk pancakes for breakfast and I have the best recipe for those below. But since we are entering the season of holiday cheer, I wanted to do a little holiday twist on this breakfast favorite and it’s something the kiddos are going to love!
I try to make the holidays extra special for my children. I want them to have certain traditions that they will remember and think fondly of as they grow older, and then even pass on to their children one day! Something as simple as holiday breakfast can become a great memory they will cherish. So, I took the buttermilk pancake recipe and made it a little more festive. Hello, Santa pancakes!
How stinkin’ cute are these Santa buttermilk pancakes?! Bonus, it’s an easy way for the kids to eat their fruit. For more breakfast ideas, visit Real California Milk here.
Buttermilk Pancake Recipe:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cane sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups Real California Milk buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons Real California Milk unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- For Santa face: use bananas, raspberries and blueberries
In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients together and in a separate bowl mix the wet ingredients. Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and incorporate with a spatula (try not to overmix). Add butter to pan on medium-low heat and once butter begins to bubble, add your pancake batter (amount of batter depends on the size of pancakes you want, but I did a slightly larger pancake for the Santa face). Cook until the top begins to bubble and the edges set and then flip. Then decorate Santa with banana slices for his beard, raspberries for his hat and blueberries for his eyes!
I hope your family enjoys this holiday breakfast tradition as much as mine! Show us how you’re making your holiday #MorningsMeanMore with #RealCaliforniaMilk and visit www.RealCaliforniaMilk.com/better-breakfast
